Support Diver

Support Diver

Goal

The DIRrebreather Support Diver workshop prepares a diver in his/her new role: support diver. Specific attention will be paid to giving support to CCR divers. Divers can give support until the maximum depth of their CCR certification, with a maximum depth of 100 mtr.

Prerequisites

To participate in the workshop, it is required to:

-       Be at least 18 year old.

-       Have a Certification as rebreather diver (SCR or CCR) by a recognized Training Agency

-       Be physically and mentally fit

-       Have a DAN Insurance (or equivalent diving insurance)

There is no minimal experience required between the basic Rebreather Diver certification, the DIRrebreather Support Diver workshop. However, participants should be comfortable enough with their rebreather and the skills taught during the Support Diver workshop.

Having participated in a DIRrebreather Fundamentals and DIRrebreather Rescue Workshop is highly recommended.

Duration and limits

The workshop should last for a minimum of 2 days with at least 2 hours of Academics and 2 in-water sessions to a maximum depth of 40m/ 100 feet (no decompression), no overhead environment. A third in-water session is optional but strongly recommended.

Maximum in-water Instructor-to-student ratio is 3:1.
