DIRrebreather Fundamentals Workshop

GOAL

The DIRrebreather Fundamentals workshop is designed to provide the participant with rebreather-specific knowledge and skills that are not taught in conventional rebreather courses. It helps the participants to improve their personal rebreather skills as well as their ability to be part of a rebreather diver team, within the limits of their current certification.

PREREQUISITES

To participate in the workshop, it is required to:

  • Be at least 18 year old
  • Have a Certification as rebreather diver (SCR or CCR) by a recognized Training Agency
  • Be physically and mentally fit
  • Have a DAN Insurance (or equivalent diving insurance)
  • Be able to swim a distance of 15m / 50 feet on a breath hold
  • Be able to swim at least 275m/300 yards in under 14 minutes without stopping (swimsuit, no fins)

The DIRrebreather Fundamentals workshop can be combined with a basic CCR or SCR diver course from a recognized training agency, as long as all the performance requirements are met. However experience shows that the participants get the most out of this workshop if they get some practice with their unit between their initial certification course and the Fundamentals workshop.

DURATION AND LIMITS

The workshop should last for a minimum of 3 days with at least 10 hours of Academics and 5 in-water sessions to a maximum depth of 18m/ 60 feet (no decompression), no overhead environment.

Maximum in-water Instructor-to-student ratio is 1:3
